About this deal

I already visualized what happened to Sky because the idea was instantly introduced during her earlier flashback nightmare. people who have traumatic pasts are not all suffering from repressed memories that need to be revealed at exactly the right moment. But I know it sucked and I have no idea why you aren’t crying right now, but I know your heart hurts, and maybe even your pride. Every time I read a book by Colleen Hoover, I discover something new that makes me appreciate her even more. To be honest, after reading the first chapter I was afraid that it would be a 1 star book, but then luckily things got better unfortunately not that better.

There is something about Holder that sparks memories of Sky's troubled past, those which she would rather stay buried. Something about him sparks memories of her deeply troubled past, a time she's tried so hard to bury. Going much further into the storyline would be spoiling too much, but let me tell you, it's not like anything you could expect. Sky, a senior in high school, meets Dean Holder, a guy with a promiscuous reputation that rivals her own.

This genre has become known, during it's short lifetime, for its sexism, its slut-shaming, its poor writing, its eyeroll worthy characters and its creepy portrayal of young male/female relationships.

Suspended from school at the beginning of his Junior Year, Holder hasn’t been seen for an entire year. You can hold my hand, you can run your fingers through my hair, you can straddle me while I feed you spaghetti, but you are not getting kissed tonight.

Seems ironic that a book entitled Hopeless would lead me to become so incredibly and utterly hopeful. In fact the whole idea of being swooned by anyone is foreign to me… Somehow, in the course of sixty seconds, this guy has managed to swoon me, then terrify the hell out of me.

These are all topics that can be difficult to discuss, but Colleen Hoover handles them with sensitivity and compassion. But things have been off within the tightknit group, and when Daniel reaches out to Six to ask the hard questions he hasn't dared to bring up since they last spoke about their shared secret, he's dismayed to learn that it's this very secret bringing a cloud over the holiday. The physical connection between Holder and Sky made it difficult to breathe; the moments of intense passion, emotion, feeling.

I honestly love when a story can pull the rug out from underneath me, and Hopeless presents quite a few victorious rug tugs! This story kicks off in the midst of an emotionally charged moment of despair— setting the stage for the chilling mysteries that lie ahead. As they navigate the ups and downs of love, Daniel and Six must decide if they are willing to take a chance on each other. But this love has conditions: they agree it will last only one hour, and it will be only make-believe.

When this book wasn't busy lovingly breaking my heart, it got its kicks from wowing me with some of the most clever and adorable scenarios imaginable. And unfortunately, she is also the type of girl who does not get attracted to boys much, gets bored while making out and never gets butterflies. Their whole relationship was just intense and I can only hope that one day I'll meet a woman and be able to pour all of the love and desire I feel into my eyes and gaze at her with the same type of intensity that Holder does with Sky. I loved that the story was serious but little parts made me laugh out, breaking up the more emotionally charged scenes. With the help of his friends and family, Holder sets out to prove to Sky that their love is worth fighting for.
