About this deal

com to learn more about the Bad Elf GPS, GPS Pro/Pro+, and the GNSS Surveyor accessories, which add a high performance GPS receiver to the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad via the 30-pin dock connector, Lighting connector, or Bluetooth. I wanted to use CamerAlert with it but didn't check beforehand about GPS and now realise that only the 3G/4G version has assisted GPS. On two occasions in no wind we drifted over the buoy which then woke me up by banging against the hull. RIDGEWAY BREWING - Ridgeway Brewing creates beers that are inspired by 'cutting edge tradition' - a match between heritage and modern tastes and technologies. Designed for GIS and survey professionals, the Bad Elf Flex and Flex Mini connect to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth and provide high-accuracy location data to ANY and ALL field data collection apps in your workflow.

Please don't regard him as an "expert"; he's getting quite old and thinks that "fadiddling fumble-putz" is a more accurate description. And whereas the Bad Elf Pro “supports up to 5 simultaneous clients, you’ll be able to stream GPS to whatever combination of devices you want to use.

And note that as nice as Apple iOS is about distributing GPS position info to all apps, it does not seem capable of sharing accuracy and satellites-in-use detail for the GPS built into some iPads (which also cost more with the GPS).

Also, you are correct in that, as far as I can tell, the Bad Elf unit is discontinued, which may be problematic. It almost feels as though it's assuming that it's oriented perfectly along the axis of movement and it's adding a movement vector to a last-known position, and getting it horribly wrong when it's moving at speed and wedged into a pocket pointing sideways. The fist thing is battery life, which is non-existent on any device with built-in GPS running, second is flexibility because you can geotag multiple cameras with one GPS when people are with you. The Bad Elf Flex is a high performance GNSS receiver with fully unlocked RTK engine capabilities and access to the Atlas L-Band correction service. I'll turn on tracking in the app, which will then show tracking enabled, but I'll later learn it was not actually enabled on the device. To make matters worse, I only learned I didn't get good data after I download the recording which was after I'd left the field.

I've had this nearly a year, and tried to get answers out of Bad Elf several times, without much success. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

I don’t know when it will happen but it could be a neat feature (if marine apps learn to take in 0183 over BT the way they do over WiFi). Flex Mini is a mapping-grade GNSS that provides reliable and high-performance positional accuracy for tablets or smartphones. I bought the WiFi-only version due to the fact that I rarely use the 3G on my phone (mostly use it on WiFi at home) and didn't think it was worth getting it on the iPad, which is even less portable than the phone due to its size. Note to readers: Let me emphasize that not many charting and mapping apps I tried could do what iSailor did.

ELF WARNING: Consumption of too much Winter’s Ale may be bad for your elf and may impair your ability to drive a sleigh or operate toy-making machinery. However, it regularly records wildly inaccurate locations (100s of meters off), or just records the point where I first turned it on, regardless of where I go. The Bad Elf Flex Extreme is the perfect solution for GIS, mapping, agriculture, and survey data collection. I've also found that the communication between the app and the unit isn't reliable, which may be the crux of the problem. Just having your wireless apps device able to reliably receive GPS from a specialized and also wireless sensor (with a very long battery life) is great, but having it be the central display and management point for a tiny device that can collect data on its own is a whole other level. However, the accuracy at best will be like 5m, while my Android phone, for instance, might get 3m accuracy. I tried logging points directly on the device, and while the machine beeps to indicate a completed log, when I go back to view the logs, they show as zero points collected.
